Declarations of Interest Policy

Applications for research projects are processed according to information published and standard procedures published on the QResearch website (qresearch.org). These procedures are designed to ensure that applications are reviewed in a robust, transparent and fair way.

Applications are submitted to a generic email box [email protected] which is managed on a day-to-day basis by the QResearch Senior Database Manager and QResearch Senior Project Manager. It is overseen by Professor Hippisley-Cox and the Chair of the Science Committee.  In order to ensure that applications are reviewed without bias, members of the Scientific Committee will declare any conflict of interest in respect of applications on the agenda for the Science Committee meeting.  If any member of the committee is uncertain whether an interest represents a conflict, he/she will defer to the Chair of the committee who will decide and the decision will be documented in the minutes. Scientific Committee members who are co-applicants or researchers named on an application will not take part in reviewing or discussing that application and will not be present when other members discuss it.

Scientific Committee members who have some other conflict of interest, such as an ongoing application for a similar project, will not take part in reviewing or discussing that application.

This will be noted in the minutes, which shall be published. This policy will be reviewed at least annually.
