QResearch was established as a new high quality ethical database for research in 2003 at the University of Nottingham by Professor Julia Hippisley-Cox (Chief Investigator) in collaboration with EMIS Health. QResearch relocated to Queen Mary University of London in 2025 with the appointment of Professor Hippisley-Cox as the inaugural Professor of Clinical Epidemiology and Predictive Medicine.
- QMUL is the sole data controller for the datasets which are linked to QResearch (deaths, cancer and hospital data) and the single point of access to the data.
- The QResearch Advisory Board sets policy and oversees the operation and governance of the database
- The QResearch Scientific Committee undertakes scientific reviews of research applications to QResearch and approval by the committee constitutes Research Ethics Approval under REC 23/EM/0166.
QResearch is hosted within the Wolfson Institute of Population Health at Queen Mary University of London.
