Patient Notice

This GP practice supports QResearch

QResearch is a national health research database run by Queen Mary University of London with GP practices. It helps improve healthcare and patient safety across the NHS.

What information is used?

  • Diagnoses and long-term conditions
  • Prescriptions and test results

Before your information is used

✅ Your personal identifiers are disclosed securely to QMUL through a NHS system called the IM1 platform instead of using GP data anonymised at source.

✅ QMUL effectively anonymise the data (with the exception of full date of death)

✅ The use of identifiers without consent has been supported under section 251 by the HRA following CAG advice

✅ You cannot be identified from the information kept in QResearch.

❌ Free-text notes written by your GP (full sentences) are not taken.
❌ Your information is never used for marketing or insurance.

Your choice

✅ You can choose not to have your anonymised GP data used in QResearch.
✅ To opt out of QResearch specifically, speak to your GP practice.
✅ The National Data Opt-out and Type 1 opt-out will be respected.
